Mrs. Marissa Church
This will be my 17th year to teach and my fifth year as a Kennedale Wildcat! I began my time in college at Texas A&M Corpus Christi working in wild bird rehabilitation and as a rehab assistant at the Texas State Aquarium, I moved back to Fort Worth to intern and accept a position at the Fort Worth Zoo. In 2004 I graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Wildlife Management and a minor in Biology. In 2017 I graduated from WGU with a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. My husband and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our kids and pets.
My Teaching Philosophy:
I want students to be able to problem solve and make connections in science, based on experience. In order to do this students need to participate in discussions, small group activites, projects and labs. These skills will serve them not only in high school, but also in college and career. My classroom is a mix of the traditional learning environment with notes/lecture mixed with a heavy dose of inquiry and hands on learning labs. My curriculum is rigorous but with time and effort the pay off and benefit to our students is tremendous.
