Disease Prevention and Mitigation
Your children are our highest priority and their health, safety and welfare is our top concern. By working together, we can educate, build awareness regarding illness in our community, enforce good hygiene, monitor wellness and follow guidelines/protocols to ensure the best possible learning environment for students along with the health of the entire community.
We know early detection is a significant part of any disease mitigation and KISD works closely with area health departments during times of heightened health concern. School nurses and other staff members play a vital role in identifying illness at its outset and following protocols is critical to controlling outbreaks.
Kennedale ISD very strictly enforces guidelines regarding illness and when to stay home from school, and it takes parents and staff members working together to be successful. If a child becomes ill while at school, faculty and staff do their best to isolate the child and parents will be contacted so they can pick up their student as soon as possible.
Kennedale ISD schools routinely teach and reinforce the following:
- PROPER HANDWASHING | soap & water for 20 seconds and hand sanitizer in between.
- WASHING HANDS AFTER CERTAIN ACTIVITIES | including bathroom breaks, after recess & before lunch.
- COUGH/SNEEZE ETIQUETTE | cough into the upper sleeve or use a tissue and dispose of it properly.
- KEEPING HANDS AWAY FROM EYES, NOSE, AND MOUTH.
- STAY HOME IF SICK.
Kennedale ISD will follow the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) communicable disease chart for all communicable diseases.
