Dr. Julie Vu is currently in her fifth year as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Student Services at Kennedale ISD. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated a commitment to planning strategically for the growth of academic programs and ensuring increased access to enhanced learning opportunities for KISD students.
With over two decades of experience in public education, Dr. Vu has served in various roles, including teacher, teacher mentor, instructional coach, curriculum coordinator, and district-level administrator. Her teaching portfolio spans diverse subjects, including developmental reading, middle school language arts, high school English, and AP English Literature and Composition. Additionally, she brought her expertise to the language learning program as an instructor at The American School of Switzerland in the Swiss village of Montagnola.
Dr. Vu holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and she earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from Texas Christian University. During her time in graduate school, she also served as an instructor in the College of Education at TCU where she taught courses in adolescent literature, educational philosophy, and literacy.
Dr. Vu has garnered numerous accolades throughout her career, including Teacher of the Year by South Tarrant County’s Chamber of Commerce in 2006, Outstanding North Texas Teacher by the Dallas Mavericks’ Board of Trustees in 2009, and Educator of the Year by Saginaw's Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Notably, she was recognized as the Kennedale ISD Professional of the Year in 2020 for her exceptional leadership and service during the challenging times of the COVID-19 crisis.
Dr. Vu is a dedicated educator with an unwavering in her commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning within Kennedale ISD. Her relentless pursuit of excellence reflects her deep-rooted belief in the power of education to shape the future for the students of Kennedale ISD.
Dr. Vu and her family call Fort Worth home, where she lives with her husband, two kids, and their new puppy. Both of her children participate actively KISD's school community as students at JAA and JFD.
