Curriculum & Instruction
KISD students have access to a guaranteed and viable curriculum. The district and campuses select instructional materials to meet the state standards (TEKS - Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and provide the necessary rigor to be successful in the next grade. The curriculum includes expectations which are found in the TEKS, and further explained and developed in the curriculum management system, TEKS Resource System.
The standards do not prescribe any particular instructional resource. The instructional resources are adopted to meet the standards. No one resource meets one hundred percent of the TEKS for any grade level or subject. Therefore, our teachers and administrators select from a variety of instructional resources to meet the expectations of the TEKS and provide necessary rigor.
