Please come out this season and enjoy a performance of our 2010 Marching Show entitled, "AMAZON".
The Kennedale High School Wildcat Marching Band’s 2010 Contest Show is entitled, “AMAZON”. The music for this show is composed and arranged by Key Poulan. Drill design is by Jeff Barge. “AMAZON” takes the band on a journey through the sights and sounds of the South America Rainforest. The First Movement is entitled, “Anaconda”, as the band portrays meeting the large snake as we make our way down the Amazon River. The Second Movement is entitled, “Through the Canopy”, and represents the “canopy” of the “Living Trees” that are the lifeline of the rainforest. Finally the Third Movement is entitled, “ Yagua Hunt”. Here the local native tribesmen not only hunt for food , but also fight for their basic survival in the jungle where they encounter such wild animals as poison tree frogs and Jaguars.
=============================================== Parents and Friends of the Wildcat Band: We are happy to announce that the KHS Band Drumline has reached our goal for our summer fundraising project and we are able to purchase the new Marimba for the Wildcat Band. Thank you to all in the Kennedale community who have contributed to this effort. Mr. Estes and Mrs. Romano will be working on the recognitions for all of those who have contributed to this cause so that we can thank them publicly for their donation. We have several fundraising projects ongoing and planned for the next few weeks. Please continue to support the Wildcat Band and our wonderful kids! Your help and support is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Erol Oktay ========================================

TMEA HONOR BAND COMPETITION
The Wildcat Band is one of only fourteen 3A bands to be selected to advance to the State Competition for the honor to be named the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 2010-2011 Class 3A Honor Band for the State of Texas. This is the first time that the Wildcat Band has advanced to this level in the TMEA Honor Band Competition. In this contest, our entire concert program (all three tunes together) is judged, much like it is at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. The State Adjudication of our UIL Contest recording was held on Sunday July 25th in San Antonio at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention. The KHS Band ranked EIGHTH in the State in this competition.
ATSSB OPS COMPETITION
In the 2010 Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) Competition, all three of our contest tunes were selected to advance to the State Competition where each tune will be judged individually. In this contest, bands may submit up to three tunes to be judged individually on their own merit. This is the competition that the KHS Band was the State Winner for 2009 concert (non-march) portion of this contest. In this years competition, the Wildcat Band's recording of our march ranked EIGHTH, and our Concert Recordings ranked ELEVENTH and THIRTEENTH at the state finals.
Way to Go Wildcat Band!!!

DISMISSAL AFTER A PERFORMANCE
All students are required to stay in the band hall until the full band is dismissed together. It is not fair to allow anyone to leave until all equipment has been properly put away. The band hall must be cleaned before dismissal. Once everything has been unloaded, and instruments and uniforms are stored, there will be a very brief meeting to make quick announcements. After that, everyone will be dismissed together. It is impossible to say exactly what time the band will return from trips. Students are encouraged to call home from the bus on the way home from a performance. Any student who leaves the band hall before official dismissal is subject to disciplinary action.
Students will be informed during the week of an out-of-town game what the approximate return time is. We expect all students to be picked up shortly after we return. A band director will stay 30 minutes past dismissal time. After that point, students may be asked to wait for parents outside the building and the director will lock up and leave the campus.
